The YMCA, along with Rosecrance, will offer early intervention, support, and treatment services to youth in the YMCA programs for the second year. By embedding a mental health counselor in the day-to-day activities at activities at the K-5 and Teens after-school program, youth will have access to both education and supportive therapy, as well as the opportunity to overcome the stigma of receiving mental health care. Programming will include community and parental outreach to reduce the stigma of mental health treatment and connection to other mental health services. Staff members will also receive support in dealing with secondary trauma and personal situations that affect their mental health. This initiative will aim to serve 150 children and adolescents within Winnebago County.
