Program Description
The Doula Program, through Brightpoint, will continue to fund two doula positions for its third year, including a Doula II. Doulas are trained professionals who provide continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a mother and her support system. They provide in-person support during childbirth and as well education and information for new families around attachment, regulation, and other common issues that arise during the perinatal period. The Doula II can follow families with significant mental health concerns for up to an entire year postpartum. The Doula Program will work closely with community partners to receive referrals of eligible pregnant mothers and aims to serve a total of 40 clients for the upcoming program year.
