About the Event

Through the Watershed Education & Outreach program, a bioretention basin will be installed at Ken Rock to improve water quality in Rockford. A bioretention basin is a shallow, vegetated basin that hosts a variety of plants, improves water quality, and filters stormwater runoff through the use of engineered soil that removes solids, metals, and organic chemicals. To learn more about this, visit the project page here.

We are seeking volunteers to assist with native plant installations for the bioretention basin in Ken Rock. Planting will take place on Friday August 2nd from 10:30am to 5:30pm in two-hour periods. Please sign up using the "Volunteers Sign Up Here" button to the right. Make sure to wear comfy shoes, and, if possible, please bring your own soil knives, hand trowels, and gloves.
