Overview

The Keith Creek neighborhood association has been awarded R1's Livable Communities Initiative (LCI) support. Through this support, R1 will engage with the community and develop a planning document to address the neighborhood's most pressing livability challenges. This project will be directly informed by the residents of the Keith Creek neighborhood.

Region 1 Planning Council's (R1) Livable Communities Initiative (LCI) aims to improve communities’ quality of life through sustainable, accessible, and vibrant development.

LCI provides technical assistance to neighborhoods, helping them address livability challenges like housing, transportation, and economic growth. Neighborhoods that receive this assistance will later be eligible for funding to implement infrastructure projects.

The Keith Creek Neighborhood Association's application identified investment in the neighborhood as crucial to improving its resilience and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.

The application identified the following neighborhood goals:

  • Improve walkability & bikeability
  • Become age-friendly
  • Reduce flooding
  • Retain or improve existing character
  • Attract investment and development
  • Broaden housing choices

In January 2025, the Keith Creek Neighborhood Association was selected by the R1 Governing Board as the 2025 LCI recipient! Currently, R1 is coordinating initial project development and timelines with neighborhood representatives.
